About me
I am a sociologist with a focus on gender, disability, medical sociology, and science and technology studies. I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). I currently serve as a Term Lecturer at Barnard College, Columbia University. My research interests center around trans studies, critical neurodiversity studies, medical sociology, and feminist science and technology studies. My current research examines the field of trans medicine to understand how ableism is implicated in the medical conceptualization of trans people, affecting trans people’s access to gender-affirming medical care, and thereby their access to desired embodiments.
I previously worked as a Program Evaluation Specialist for the CUNY Nurse Fellowship Academy, jointly run by the CUNY School of Professional Studies and the CUNY Office of Health and Human Services.
I hold a masters degree in gender studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a bachelors degree in sociology from the University of Westminster (UK).
